I have loved reading every since I was a child. The Van Gogh Cafe by Cynthia Rylant is one of my favorites. The book is a collection of memories about a restaurant in Kansas that is run by a father and his daughter, Clara. I love this book because my students are always surprised by the unexpected things that happen to Clara and her father. I appreciate the beautiful language Cynthis Rylant uses to describe her characters and their adventures.
